MATERIAL THESIS | RENEWABLE FORCE
Renewable Force was a materials project focused on sourcing and learning about sustainable fills and fabrics. The project included a partnership with supplier Allied Feather & Down, and a mentorship with their creative director, Matthew Betcher. Research included the positives and negatives of recycled fiber fill, the true longevity of natural materials, and the ‘Trace My Down’ program.
‘Renewable Force’ was inspired by cold water surf and the impact of our oceans. Water is a scarce resource, yet our oceans hold tremendous power. The colors and textures were drawn from the sea at winter, and from the constant emotional roller coaster that is the sport of surfing.
